Biography: Ian Stuart Campbell DipArch.DA.CiB.FSAI.FRIAS

Edinburgh based artist, Ian Stuart Campbell is currently engaged on his "The Architectural Tourist" project which involves 'rough' sketching carried out on-site.  As part of the project Stuart notes his "Impressions" of cities throughout Europe and Scandinavia in essays and photographs which together with his sketches are now published widely by the RIAS. (The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland)

"It is a real privilege to spend time studying buildings, and patterns of life, in fabulous places such as Rome, Paris or Edinburgh." according to Stuart. His original sketches are drawn using Staedler Pigment Ink pens chosen for lightfast and waterproof qualities and ease of use in the open air. Generally sketches are drawn on Fabriano 220/300 gsm smooth paper, or equivalent and most are now available as Giclee Archive quality prints.

Stuart graduated from Glasgow School of Art, Mackintosh School of Architecture and Glasgow University and has special interest in urban design, and has practical experience in the design of major commercial projects as a former Director with Hugh Martin Partnership Architects, subsequently Archial Architects, based in Edinburgh.   (portrait by Joyce Campbell)
